La Rioja University » Overview of the Institution

Opened for the academic year 1992-1993, the University of La Rioja is the only higher education and scientific research centre in this autonomous community.

Over its academic career, the institution has become well-established in its task of higher education, research and innovation, the dissemination and creation of knowledge. During this time, the University of La Rioja has trained 12,000 professionals.

The University of La Rioja is a modern campus with a specific profile, with its roots in the study of Castilian Spanish Language and the world of wine-making, while also looking towards the future and supporting the use of new technologies. The centre has been a pioneer in the creation, on a national level, or new degree courses such as Oenology, or the teaching of courses over the Internet, as is the case of the Degree in Employment and Historic Sciences and Music Science.

At the University of La Rioja, student life is completed with a full range of cultural and sporting activities. There is a large number of student associations of all kinds - music, literature, theatre, cinema - which extend the academic offer and provide students with the opportunity to relate with the whole university community.

The University of La Rioja is located on a single campus, close to the city centre and well communicated, which houses all faculties.
